Ian founded Rock Creek CrossFit in October 2010 with his wife and fellow athlete Ame.  Always on a quest to become a better athlete and coach, Ian spent a number of years traveling the world and participating in various athletic activities focused around capoeira and martial arts.  In 2007 Ian discovered CrossFit and immediately realized the potential for people from all walks of life to benefit from its innovative methodology.

Since then, Ian has spent the majority of his time crossfitting and sharing his passion for CrossFit and the results it brings to anyone who wants to change their lives for the better.  Ian is known for his knowledge of fitness, nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as for his ability to inspire and encourage people.  He believes in the benefits of functional mind and body programming.

Ame Ramos, Co-owner, Manager, and Kids Coach

Ame has been active in sports from a young age.  She has participated in competitive soccer and ice hockey, as well as in long distance running and adventure races. Ame discovered CrossFit in 2006 and since then she crossfits wherever she can with whatever she can – carrying logs and sprinting on Mexican beaches,  squatting her suitcase in a hotel room in the UK, racing wallabies in Northern Australia, or doing handstand walks on the rim of a volcano in Nicaragua.

Ame has married her passion for CrossFit with her interest in working with women and children.  Specializing in functional training, she takes an integrated approach to fitness combining the specific developmental needs of women and children with play/imagination (for kids) and breathing/mobility (for women).  Ame’s goals are to understand each athlete from a holistic perspective to effectively motivate and monitor their progress in order to help them reach and achieve their goals

Ame is a certified CrossFit Level I trainer as well as a certified CrossFit Kids instructor.

Chad Fleschner, Coach

Chad has been around fitness nearly his entire life.  For over 10 years, he was a member of a youth track and cross-country team.  He joined the rowing team in college and found a passion for the sport.  After graduation, he coached the UCDavis crew to two, 4th place finishes in the PAC-10.  He has also coached rowing at the High School and Master levels.

Chad moved to DC in 2002 to train at the Potomac Boat Club, where he won several national championships, as well as qualified for and competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials.  From 2005-2008, he took on the role as head coach for the UMD Men’s Crew. He became a certified personal trainer with a 10 year career at Washington Sports Clubs.  In 2006 he also became a master instructor for Concept2, teaching indoor rowing workshops all across North America.  As more and more crossfitters were attending these workshops, Chad’s intrigue into CrossFit rose, and in 2013, he and his family found RCC.  Chad’s approach to coaching is to understand each athlete’s unique motivation and effectively inspire them to reach their goals.  He is excited to be working with such a talented and supportive community at RCC, and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and passion.

Chad currently holds certificates as a CrossFit Level 1 trainer, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, USRowing level 3 coach, and Concept2 Master Instructor.
